Nope-it't not a politician, just an Minneapolis small business owner that I am particularily proud of. It's Dean Rose. Owner of Broadway Liquor Outlet and none other than the finest coffee in Minneapolis; The Bean Scene on Broadway and Penn. My reason to say hes an unsung hero-is because I have watched him grow this fantastic anchor on a corner of Minneapolis which really needed something. Thats one reason. Secondly; the look of ownership, accountability, and pride in the eyes of all the young people he has employed at the Bean Scene. Everytime I go into the Bean Scene I am so impressed at the professionalism of the high school kids that work there, how they try their hardest to make your experience at the Bean Scene a great one. I can see how much they respect Dean, and how much they respect the business. Plus learning the skill of being a Barista is a great trade to learn, as we know there are only a handful of good latte-makers in Mpls that can grasp this fine skill. I see the community that the Bean Scene has created, all the different events they have there. The management group that Dean has surrounded himself with make it all very apparent to me, he is my unsung hero. Next time you go to the Bean Scene, look in the young persons eyes that is working there and you will indeed see what I am talking about.
