In response to this E-mail regarding lobbying over at the Capitol for the Parade Stadium. It is true that Parade Stadium is in disrepair certainly needs improvements and due to the Sculpture Garden issues, parking lot losses and our relationship with the Walker I am not surprised it is on the list. However, I must have missed the meeting where we identified our top priorities that we will fight for over at the Capitol My biggest dismay at all this is what happened to the fight for a new Community Center in East Phillips Park that we fought so hard for last time around.
And we have not even discussed if we could get some money out of the Legislature to take on our devastating Tree Emergency.

These are examples that we refer to often times as the backroom antics and I am never sure how they get brought forward or get twisted around from what I thought were our tip priority issues. These will be the types of actions I will be fighting for in my re-election campaign to the Park Board - Open up the dialogue, no more backroom deals, provide all the information to all the Commissioners and more. And since I sit on the Legislative Committee I would even love to know when we are going over to make requests that I be included in the who, what, where and when info. I seem to never know when they are going over to the Capitol.

Yes, running for the Park Board again is still on my platter even though I am exploring some other options as well.

Even though I have sat on this Legislative committee for a long time I seem to be the last to know. A few years back I didn't lobby for the Park Board because I was lobbying for some things in my own neighborhood and didn't want legislators confused. But those days are done and I am still on the committee and still don't know when we are going over to St. Paul.

This raises the question about the competence of the Park Board Lobbyist - when he's not getting full buyin by the Park Board for the Legislative Agenda.

When I talked to John Erwin and Jon Olson about Brian Rice - both insisted that he was the best thing since sliced bread on lobbying.

But hey - Rice gets good Return on Investment for his work on Park Board campaigns - and contributions - a nice sweetheart contract with the board for both lawyer and lobbying services.

It is good to see that that boondoggle Colin Powell Youth Center isn't on either the City or Park Board's list of priorities. Any Urban Ventures project that gets government funding is just getting "Faith Based Pork".....
