In the discussion of what makes money and what doesn't for the MPRB,  I
find It's interesting that some folks keep singling out the youth and
adult athletic community as having to be partially subsidized.  At
least, these groups are contributing something to the system; through
the daily user fees they are charged.  For example, the park system has
far more dollars invested in building and maintaining Tot Lots, walking
and biking paths, not to mention the annual costs of establishing and
maintaining skating rinks and no one is charged a daily fee to use these
recreational facilities.  Athletics are a part of the MPRB's basic set
of services and should not be viewed differently, than the other fully
subsidized recreational facilities, we have throughout our great park
system.
