Again, I will use my school (MTS). We need access to fields and gyms for our sports program. Sports has helped MTS students to excel and give motivation for post secondary education. We find access to Local Park fields to be difficult to use especially if other users (often schools) need the fields or gym. We will need access to fields for practice and games.
MTS may need use of the Neiman fields for our students. At least the creation of more fields will help relieve the use of the local parks. Similarly, the creation of soccer fields is a needed goal. Many of the new immigrants desire to play the sport. The sport is becoming increasingly popular with many schools and young adults. Parade stadium and other facilities should be reviewed for possible access. Tony Scallon I question a couple of statements here because of lack of knowledge... The public tax dollar builds a school, they include a gymnasium, track fields, football field, bleachers.. the works. They are given so much per student... with Athletics being above this allocation along with the funds to maintain the sporting area. Charter Schools receive the same amount of money per student. They do not have the expenditure of a gym, fields, lights, maintenance, etc. so they go to a public sports complex. Do Charter Schools receive money for Athletics.....do they pay to use a public sports complex.... are city park fields being made to accommodate charter schools who have none?
