[Jeff Lomonaco] So your claim is that NRP caused Minneapolis' debt, which in
turn caused the recent dramatic rise in property taxes and the disappearance
of some city services? Is that it, because I didn't see you respond to my
original questions about property taxes and city services and the causal
connection to the NRP.

[Vicky Heller] It's not my "claim" that NRP caused Minneapolis debt, it's of
public record. Where do you think the $200 million came from for Phase I?
[Hint: There is no such thing as money Heaven]

[Jeff Lomonaco] I'll leave aside the fact that to show coincidence in time
between growing debt and NRP still does not show that the one caused the
other, since it's at least plausible to claim that NRP played a, though not
necessarily the sole, role.

[Vicky Heller] You are correct. There were LOTS of bad financial decisions
made during the decade of the 90s. The NRP is but one thread of a large
tattered piece of financial fabric. The City's accumulated deficits and
debts speak for themselves. It is the consequential interest payments that
are eating up money that would otherwise be available for City services.
It's no different in your own household. The more you abuse credit cards,
the less money you have to spend on food.

[Jim Mork] It seems that Victoria Heller, the North Oaks critic who loves to
hate everything any Minneapolis ruling body does is still using faulty logic
and gross generalizations to steer away from any authentic solutions to
problems that never strike her in any way but in the bank account.

[Vicky Heller] What is the Minneapolis "ruling body"? Is it the elected
council and Mayor? All elected and appointed persons? The entire City
payroll? Does it include the hundreds of unidentified persons in 81
neighborhoods that are ALSO spending public money. Who is responsible for
the financial disaster? When you decide who's responsible, you can hold
them accountable. Until then, you will continue to have a money hemorrhage.

To set the record straight, I love the City of Minneapolis; it's the
government that I don't trust. I've seen its dirty underbelly and it's not
a pretty sight.

[Jim Mork] I hereby inaugurate a Quit Minneapolis Now.

[Vicky Heller] You are ten years behind. The exodus began some time ago.
