"Hadley's Folly...Rising costs of Keeping T-H-E W-I-N-G Snow-free Shuts down rest of Minneapolis Libraries!

WM: Don't blame it on Hadley. This happened long before she was on board. By referendum. We did it, not she.

A cement wing that never will fly. How excessive and ridiculous!

WM: In the 19th Century and early 20th, libraries had pillars, carved stone, big, gorgeous windows, statuary, marble in some cases, and other fillips and curlicues that deemed a library a "handsome building." Whether you agree with this architect's aesthetic or not, any public central library building, to be considered "fitting," will have something designed to make it outstanding among other buildings. We do owe it to ourselves to have a library that is more than plain as a mud fence.
