[Mpls] journalism reflection time

The suicide death of Hunter S. Thompson has at least one local 
connection, his memorable 1968 description of Hubert Humphrey (perhaps 
slightly misquoted) as "a gutless ward heeler who should be stuffed in 
a bottle and shipped out with the Japanese Current."

(Why does that seem innocent by today's standards?)
His gonzo journalism sure got me thinking. With several journalists on 
the list, I'd be interested if anyone has thoughts on if and how 
Thompson's work might have affected local journalism and journalists.
