Okay, just for the record, I was planning on
installing eight rain barrels, not just one!  

Anyway, I did get an offlist response from John
McLain, who apparently is the project manager for this
storm water deal, and he was quite nice.  He, like
Scott, also pointed out that one would need many
barrels to make a difference with regard to runoff.  I
see the point.  

I'm still making the barrels though...

Which brings me to the question:  where can I find old
food-quality barrels, preferably 50gal?  I read in the
Green Guide (from a link included by Steve Brandt, I
think?) that there are places in Mpls where you can
obtain such barrels, but it didn't say where.  Anyone
know?  

I'll take replies offlist if that seems appropriate.
