I simply don't see why this is desirable. In the current arrangement, it's one person, one vote. In the proposed new arrangement, the votes of citizens in parts of town where no one turns out will have a disproportionate weight. The reason that some areas have "no voice, no recourse, no power," is that the people in those areas don't show up at the ballot box. You can give them a district of their own, but if they don't bother to show up at the polls. Robert P. Goldman
I believe that the turn out for voting in our area is about a strong 75% without
actually checking figures. Might be higher...how does that lead to corruption...what
corruption? I find more corruption or deception in a board elected city wide and
serving only a few of the districts. If someone has been voted in by the district...
they better be representing those citizens or have reason to give why they are not.
Of course, that might change what happens to some of the more fortunate districts
in the future being less fortunate because of the disproportionate weight or at least
representation! ...Heaven forbid!
