Well said, Pamela. I gave up on party and organizational (special interest) endorsements decades ago. My constituency is all residents, voters and taxpayers in the Ward and the city, even though only those in the Ward can vote for me. I won't be compromised by the special interest groups, the other candidates seem so intent on courting. People love to complain about the influence of big money and special interests in elections, yet that's business as usual. But, not for me! My campaign is about as grass roots as you can get! No party or organizational (special interest) endorsements sought or accepted. Contributions are accepted only from individuals, NO PAC funds or soft money-- I've already returned checks! These policies place me at a distinct disadvantage in several ways-- however, I have confidence in the voters. I won't be compromised by the special interests. I'll work for the voters and taxpayers, not the special interests! I find all this chatter about respecting the party endorsement, or not, to be very shallow... if you want to get elected, just run!
