Hey I got a great idea...
If we are so progressive and worry about felon/immigrant voting how about all
those who kept the state blue told that hope is on the way and totally
dropped and were not invited to caucus, to continue learning how the political
process works. I do not believe that all of those who have held office since I
was
a kid didn't fight to invite their new voters into the DFL. I think that we
have totally lost why we are even called the DFL and acting in the spirit of
the Dixiecrats.
If we really want to be honest about the status of people of color when
Ventura was giving money back. I leave for five years and things are worse,
much
worse. We have the same playground equipment since 1950.
Minneapolis has perfected passive aggressive racism into an art form. We are
not even representative of the population that lives here. How many office
holders in communities that are marginalized have encouraged members to apply
for boards, have individuals organically from the communities they represent
working in their offices if they can? If there haven't been changes and folks
are not participating that is a hint that things aren't working and not a
reason
to exploit a district that is disconnected and take over and do little to
improve the community that "elected" you. Then it is about your ego and that
is
something that needs to be worked on in a doctor's office not subjecting a
population that regards electing you as a means to empower themselves. I am
sure
Wellstone and HHH are rolling in their graves.
If you are smiling that you care about felons voting, do what you can to make
sure they are educated and not placed in Title 1 and labeled ADD and
discounted because they are brown so they will not be felons but doctors and
engineers
instead of thugs. We have to own as a society that Minnesota had
Murderapolis during the most prosperous times of the 1990s. One can easily see
where all
the money went in North Minneapolis. We should be ashamed and shut about our
progressive city. If we do that, they will not regard street life as their
only option. What are you all doing to improve the lives of those most at risk
so you won't be mugged on the way the Walker? Or those concealed guns when
you get robbed? Wow it amazes me how we are so disconnected from ourselves and
have very little community.
Good luck. I hope that we can get to work on making Minneapolis live up to
our expectations we have for her or values we think we have. We can start by
being honest about the quality of life of our most vulnerable and that we all
live here together.
Phyllis before you talk about what folks should do, should I remind you that
you have been in the place where you can make changes as long as I have been
alive. You have a position of power and fight for our values that has been
used as marketing tools for you to get reelected. We have been going down
hill???
If you don't open the circle it makes it easy to stay in power and how is
that any better than the other guy. Maybe it is time for those in power to
move
on and allow some other folks to bring some light in. Take up a hobby since
little if not any change has occurred.
