Would you please get it through your head that making unsupported assertions
about people converting others into opponents to make rhetorical points and
making unsupported assertions are just that, unsupported assertions that do
nothing to prove your point.
While you did say that there were problems with the drug laws, you did seem
to be arguing that there was more justification for enforcing the drug laws
than the immigration laws and you are still arguing that there is more
justification for enforcing drug laws than immigration laws.
Alcohol often makes people violent and prolonged alcoholism can do
tremendous damage to peoples' health. I once read about a retired policeman
getting drunk and shooting up the trailer park where he lived.
If we were to tell anecdotal tales about how violent alcohol can make people,
it could be made to seem as dangerous as crystal meth. We all "know" that
crystal meth is much more dangerous than alcohol and creates far more violence
and crime. But do we really "know" this when all we have is a collection of
anecdotes and no sound statistical studies? At least the popular press does
not cite the studies. If all the people who ever died of alcohol overdoses
were linked together in a sting of anecdotes, alcohol could be made to seems
far more dangerous than cocaine, heroin or crystal meth. Let's cite the
studies and forget the anecdotes before we decide what we "know."
In any case, prohibition of alcohol did far more harm than alcohol itself.
You seem to be hovering between arguing that the drug laws are without
justification and saying that maybe we should keep some drug laws. Please try
to state your position clearly instead of implying a number of positions and
then accusing people of over simplifying and distorting your position when they
respond to one of the positions.
