to the Capitol and get in line behind higher priorities like public safety,
education, health care and transportation," said Rybak, who has both favored
and opposed past stadium plans. "I don't ask them to come over here and play
City Council member, and I don't go over there and play County Board
member."

Although Rybak's DFL challenger, Hennepin County Commissioner Peter
McLaughlin, also was not at the plan's unveiling, McLaughlin said Thursday
that he would vote for the plan and acknowledged that doing so would "cost
me votes" at the endorsing convention. "It's not easy," he said, but "I
think it's time to stand up."
