I respectively disagree with Dann Dobson's assessment that the turn of events in the Minneapolis Ward 8 convention does not happen in St. Paul. The exact same scenario took place at the St. Paul Ward One Convention in 2003. Two of the candidates stated that they would abide by the DFL endorsement, but their campaigns voted for convention rules (limited number of ballots and slow drop-off rules) that ensured that no endorsement would take place. That was exactly what happened and a candidate endorsed by the St. Paul Chamber ultimately won the seat and the progressive candidate lost.
