The truth as to why so many residents of our state and
city loath public support for sports stadiums has not
really been addressed. The scams and the lies which
took the old met stadium from us and gave us the
dome. Most folks at the time supported keeping the met
but the powers that be (and still seem to be)felt a
covered stadium in downtown Mpls.would bring great
rewards ie. redevelopment of a forgotten neighborhood,
a strong new tax base, and crowds flooding downtown
with money. All they asked was a small sales tax
increase which would be dropped as soon as the stadium
was payed for. We still have that tax! We don't have
the redevelopments to the degree promised. We don't
have the crowds flooding downtown. Not to mention the
loss of the UofM stadium and the great community feel
the met and its grand parking lot gave to us. We still
loose money each day paying a sales tax that was to be
gone. Should we really trust the politicos with
another temporary tax increase and more dreams of how
great things will be? I for one ( with most the state
and city and county behind me) think not. Dain
