Good idea to set up a public safety fund ... but who's going to make sure that the courts are doing their jobs? Police Officers usually do a pretty good job of getting the criminals off the street but it's up to our judicial officers to make sure that criminals get locked up for their crimes. I worked in District Court for 9 years and between the judges and inexperienced prosecutors, many people were getting a slap on the wrist because the jails were too crowded. And frankly, I can't understand why we care so much about the creature comforts of convicted criminals when they clearly don't care about the comforts of those they victimize! Who cares if they're sleeping on the floor? Plenty of law-abiding people sleep on the floor every night because they can't afford a bed or they share a house with several others and there's not enough room for beds ... or a number of reasons. The point is, when are we going to quit molly-coddling convicted criminals?
