King George - who had the throne by birthright - not an election certificate - could levy and raise taxes by fiat. The Hennepin County commissioners are all elected and they can only raise or levy a tax by a majority vote and then it must be authorized by the Legislature and Governor - all of whom are also elected. One may disagree with the decision by Hennepin County Board or the Legislature and Governor (if they authorize)but lets stop this stupid notion that the sales tax increase is "taxation without representation"!
