RE: accusations and no clear evidence of McLaughlin's campaign wrongdoing...
This is a quite dirty, last-minute campaign tactic from the Sierra Club, and frankly does much to tarnish my regard for the Northstar Sierra Club. If there are concerns about a candidate's campaign finance practices, the proper response would be to make an official complaint. Making these allegations two days before the endorsing convention is downright distasteful. That the so-called suspicions originated weeks ago and is 'made public' now, only strengthens the case that this is nothing but last-minute smear tactic. I am still undecided in this race. (Got to do some research these next 36 hours!) I do find some irony here however. My assumption is that the R.T. campaign is not involved with these allegations. However, since Karl Rove has been recently referrenced in the campaign, this would be a very 'Rovian' tactic: have proxies do your dirty smear tactics on your behalf. My guess is R.T. is NOT involved here, but the Sierra Club is doing their best to make some wonder whether their dirty tactics have R.T.'s implicit or explicit support. I hope someone on R.T.'s campaign calls up the Sierra Club and to tell them to shut their mouth. Derek Burrows Reise Longfellow, Mpls __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
