I have to correct myself. In my earlier post, I stated that Rybak and the current council took office in 2001. That's incorrect. They took office in 2002, which means that our current administration got their start while facing the bloodshed of the 2002 Legislature's LGA cuts.
Despite that and the necessary city-wide budget cuts that followed, Rybak and the Council were able to find $4 million more for the police department budget than was spent in the last year of the SSB administration.
