Here's my $.02

The central committee could have prevented this mess back when the call to
caucus was being prepared. If I were on the committee, I would have insisted
on a 1000 delegate limit, with the delegates to the city convention elected at
ward conventions (using proportional representation, where applicable) There
is no reason why any political body needs a 2000-3000 seat convention.

BTW, after the last official report, Sue Ponsford updated the delegate count
for the tellers. The count right before the first ballot was 1,999 delegates
and upgraded alternates.

This year the tellers were in the wrestling room, a room about 1/2 the size as
what we had in 2001. Lack of space prevented us from counting 2 ballots at one
time, which might have added about an hour to the convention.
