"The story averages ballparks built since 1990 to get the $345 million average, but doesn't specifically mention the last two roofless parks: San Diego's PETCO Field and Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park.
Both parks opened in 2004; PETCO cost $449 million and Citizens Bank cost $458 million. They were built from 2001 to 2004, so a $478 million Twins stadium built from 2006 to 2009 is right in line, cost-wise." One addition to the Brauer post. PETCO was built with 4% public funding. Citizen's Bank was heavily subsidized. The Giants, who play in PETCO, are a dominant National League team that spends every Fall in the playoffs. The Phillies, who play in Citizen's, are also-rans, consistently losing to the Braves, who play in a privately financed stadium. I'd like to see more people discussing just what Pohlad's commitment to winning is going to be after we line his pockets with loot from the new stadium.
