I hope that some Minneapolis elected officials, city planners, and candidates will show up for this.
(Following text taken from the First Unitarian Website.) This Friday, June 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. there will be a public forum entitled "Halfway There: Your Life Without Oil" at First Universalist Church, 3400 Dupont Ave S. Richard Heinberg, peak oil expert and author of "The Party's Over: Oil, War and the Fate of Industrial Societies," will discuss implications of the dwindling oil supply, such as rising gas prices, energy scarcity, and the potentially violent competition for resources. He'll share his vision for adapting to the post-carbon world, and the potential silver lining if we do it right. A $5 donation suggested. Program will include Q&A and refreshments. Sponsored by UU EcoMinds: putting faith in enviromental action (a working group of Metro Unitarian Universalists Social Justice Alliance). Russell Raczkowski Bancroft REMINDERS: 1. Be civil!
