List:
I find-it somewhat interesting that some are willing to split hairs as to
whether The DFL Endorsed candidate for the 5th Ward, Don Samuels, is up for
"re-election", as opposed to "election". Last time I checked, neither
candidate was running for re-election in the physical ward to which they
were orignally elected. Yet, these same people are perfectly willing to
overlook his opponents' new campaign slogan "you can't lead the people if
you don't love the people". Which has a direct tie and obvious reference to
statements made on MTN broadcasts by Booker Hodges about CM Samuels not even
"liking black people".
Last time I checked, CM Samuels is of African american descent, and his wife
and children are african american. Does this mean he doesn't "like' his
wife and his children?
To further the discussion, I would ask, what HAS NLJ done that gives me any
indication she can "lead" people? All I ask is that everyone take a look at
things objectively and answer the question "who has rolled-up their sleeves"
and done the "real" work on behalf of the "people".
There are social issues that can be effectively addressed at a city-level,
and CM Samuels has taken those issues-on, head-on. There are issues that
can only be addressed at a national-level, and that's what I continually
hear from the "NLJ camp" - let's hold Mpls accountable for naitonal issues.
The question remains - who will be most effective as an elected
official.....
