I think that this opinion ignores the fact that teachers
are as much a part of the problem as they are a part of the
solution.  Dedication to ineffective and discriminatory
practices is obstructive not progressive.

"As much a part of the problem" lets the generals off the hook while the lower ranks get jail time for military rules of conduct and human rights violations. The leadership has to lead. As far as I can see, Superintendent Peebles is attempting to do that. I think she should be given a chance to show what she can do. But I don't think we should be throwing teachers on the bone pile before the system gets oriented in its new direction.

The inferred education contract is between the parent and the teacher in the early years and between the student and the teachers in the later years. That's where the learning happens. We owe it to our kids to make good faith efforts and respect our partners in the schools unless one of the sides fails.
