Simultaneous to this abstract discussion on The List; I have posted the very
specific and horrifying details of our local Lowry Corridor Road Project's
Larry Blakstad meddling with a lady's economic survival. The Lady is Jamie
LaVanier and her apartment building is at 3123 6th street.
Consider yourselves lucky- you are being paid to get out of
this criminal containment zone. Many of us only wish we were so lucky.
Her economic survival
being predicated on the income her 8 tenants gave her to pay her mortgage and
other property expenses. The rent they paid her each month before the County's
Larry Blakstad induced all her good tenants to leave her property by tendering
them 50 to 80 thousand dollars.
So she had at least five units occupied. Even if those were
all the one bedroom units at current market that's at least $30,000
gross income a year- more than adaqui te to service the debt and
cover the overhead on this building.
Let us discuss the heavy handed tactics used
against an honest and sincere stakeholder, Jamie LaVanier, in a tough Mpls.
Neighborhood, Jordan. Let us discuss a female provider of, for profit,
affordable housing who was always standing up against the gangs and
criminals who
swarmed her block while she constantly spruced up her building
That building hasn't seen over a thousand dollars spent on
repairs since 1998.
Shall we
offer general banter while bad public policy destroys an innocent individual
through eminent domain near Lowry and Lyndale north?
Enough of the violins- she's had enough income to more than
cover expenses and hasn't invested peanuts in the building. In the
bit over a year she's owned the building it has seen double digit
appreciation. The county will give her at least the full market value
for the building, and thusly at least a $50,000 profit for little
work while using other peoples money.
We must research and write about this travesty on The List and we must call
Larry Blackstad, or Chuck Ballantine (his boss), at Hennepin County 348-9260
and simply ask: IS THIS FAIR?
Heck, I might call and try to get my most humble abode
included in the buyout too.
