Happy Fourth List!

I must say that my earlier post came off rather sideways; and I would want to ask for your apologies. However, the feeling behind my message is very real, and indeed much echoed by other residents I know who look like me, and talk like me. It is very disturbing to see a trend in which every election period, this neighborhood further goes down the drain after promises made. We have one of the cities oldest biggest parks, yet, it not even safe to have a barbeque in.

At times it seems as though more police would be needed. However, more police would not be needed if the infrastructure of the area were more economically sound. Or if the city’s empowerment zone would allow dollars to those wishing to start their own businesses, other than nails; liquor; knock off clothing stores, and corner “hood” stores selling outdated WIC (Women Infant‘s and Children), in addition to selling cigarettes cheaper than any other place in the city. (FYI) Do you know that kids who use tobacco are more incline to be involved in violence? It would be nice to have book stores, (Believe it or not, we do read) coffee shop’s, (we drank coffee too) more healthier eatery’s and/or diners. Conflict mediation center would be ideal. But, instead we get corrections, and probations.

I love where I live and believe there is still hope, if someone cares enough about working for solutions. However, time and again, this part of the area is often forgotten about with false promises, fancy mouth work.

This is not about keeping families in the politics business, rather speaking up for the little man who can not speak for themselves. I would like to know why any of the candidates are running for third ward, is it because you can, or is it because the whole constituency in need of a voice who can deliver with their feet, and not with their mouth.

Finally, how do you propose to keep the balance for both sides of the river, so that “all” the third ward (good and bad) is included in the agenda. Each area is unique and requires different solutions. Look, I don’t pretend to know everything, and there are issues that I am not aware of so, please enlighten me or forgive my ignorance.
