Thatcher Imboden and his sister Cedar have written a fine book
on the history of Uptown Minneapolis.   It won a Heritage Preservation
Award this year for community education:

I was thinking about the book and more about Lake Street and
what from the past may be discovered as the digging progresses
...as I was browsing old photos in the Minnesota Historical Society's
 database...

That red brownstone where 'It's Greek to Me... is now
and where the Art Car Parade will pass on Lake and Lyndale
on Saturday was there in 1906...!

In my complaints about missing services to make life
less difficult for Lake Street  and near residents....
I neglected to mention that In the Heart of the Beast
theater just completed a reprise of their "Lake Street
Excavations" performance...which must have been
a challenge in the heat...even as it was positive and community affirming...
