I wasn't able to attend the Library Board debate last night. Who won?
I have listened to many speeches by Library Board candidates and been
following their campaigns.
Since the news media will have all the names and what they said, I will not
go into that..
No one really won since they all spoke with knowledge and heart with
some being better in oratories than others. There was a small crowd
of listeners which did grow by evenings end.
Hopefully, more people will attend these forums. Two candidates that
I was going to vote for....will not get my vote. A candidate that I did
not know will get my vote...so this was a great learning experience.
I went with a neighbor and what was interesting is that we wrote down
the same people....whereas she really did not know the candidates as
well as I...so there was a strong showing amongst them.
Two great orators last evening was Samanatha Smart and Sheldon
Main....but others have as good of a message and qualifications if
not the strength of voice! I plan on going to one more forum and if people
can find it in their schedules...please go.
Questions...closure of libraries, funding, benefits for board members,
LGA monies, computers or books, distribution of books and programs
along with staffing and hours.
The unknown was the surprise last evening.
