Mr. Graham says:

"I called Robert Lilligren because even though not a person of color he IS an
American Indian and would have an interest in helping such a worthwhile
American Indian project. I was absolutely correct in that supposition, and
Robert Lilligren did cut through the mountain of red tape our City of
Minneapolis has become."

Mr. Graham, I yearn for the day when this sort of blood politics which you have
so predictably extrapolated from the "Native American youth in East Phillips
Park Incident" is viewed with the same distain that we now view race baiting.

Councilmember Zimmermann says,

"Jim, it is public knowledge that you are supporting my opponent. It strikes
me that these side swiping attempts to malign my office, my staff and City
staff only serve to undermine your credibility. Given the high level of
responsiveness and constituent service that 6th Ward residents have
received, I think you are barking up the wrong tree on this permit business.
I suppose you are still angry with me for securing those eight MCDA lots for
you to use in your American Indian Home Ownership project and for the dozens
of hours my office put in to pass your, unfortunately watered down, carriage
house ordinance for Ventura Village. I have done my best to serve ALL of my
constituents, whether they support me or not."

Councilmember Zimmermann, you are correct. Mr. Graham doesn't want to play
with you (though hard feelings about Basim Sabri and "The Elroy Site Incident"
probably plays an even larger part).

While you might not always have a lot of clout with the DFL's on the Council,
Councilmember Zimmermann, your attention to the constituency needs of the Sixth
Ward has been remarkably responsive and effective, and, as everyone knows, I
rarely like anything.

And thanks, Councilmember Zimmermann, for steering The Parisien project through
Zoning and Planning last week. At last developers aren't being hand cuffed by
the building code to build ugly buildings. The Parisien will add a note of
elegance to Whittier. (Might you have a trace of French blood in your
background?)
