I think its great to have a website like this, http://www.e-democracy.org/wiki/Minneapolis_election_2005_candidates which ideally will be a "one stop shop" for people looking for information about the candidates...
Annie mentioned that some are missing... The e-democracy folks will need to get a complete list of all candidates who have filed and if they are not in the database, a volunteer will have to contact the candidate and enter a profile for them. I don't know how the Skyway News/Southwest Journal gets all the information for their coverage, but it looks like they interview each candidate so their election coverage is the most comprehensive. I keep the print versions of articles like this one: http://www.swjournal.com/articles/2005/08/01/news/news02.txt To refer to right up to election day. The Aug 1-14 issue of the Southwest Journal has an article on the Library Board candidate forum, and a ward by ward review of whos running in "Candidates turn out in droves for city offices" plus the print version of the article on Ward 10 above. You get an indepth profile of each candidate, a photo, and their statements on the issues that they are working on and there is even a map and some ward demographics...it's GREAT! I'd like to see a connection or integration between the SW Journal election coverage and what e-democracy is doing. Madeline Douglass Kingfield REMINDERS: 1. Be civil!
