For those of you who asked for the Decrim Task Force Recs and dialouge and for those of you who may:
The Decrim Task Force was a task force of the Community Advisory Board on Homelessness. The Recommendations the task force presented to the City Council (Unfortunately the Mayor was not there) on June 10th were almost 2 years in completing. The work had to be reviewed by the entire CABH membership made up of shelter providers, advocates, members of the CABH who have experienced homelessness and other stakeholders. Every CABH member had to apply and come before both the City Council and County Commissioners as part of applying to be a CABH member. Both bodies then had to select that person to be on the CABH. What this means is that the people who know the issues reagarding homelessness reviewed the information and recs made by the Task Force, to insure accuracy. This was grueling work, with the recs coming back to the CABH several times prior to final approval. This work was not slapped together. To clarify, I am not a member of the CABH, however I worked on the Decrim Task Force. For more informtion related to decrim and homelessness, models of housing that work and other issues related to homelessness you can go to the following Web address and read over archives of postings. The blog continues but other work on homelessness has slowed down postings. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DecrimMinneapolis/ Margaret Hastings Kingfield REMINDERS: 1. Be civil!
