Saturday's Strib, p. B1, "Head of violent gang gets a 33-year sentence."

To wit; Laquan Carter of the Family Mob, one of the most violent gangs, is going to the big house for a long, long time. Congrats for every cop, county attorney, judge, typist, clerk, CCP/SAFE person, and whoever else. Very nice work, people. Good on you.

Mr. Carter was one of the leaders on the corner of Park and Franklin during the last ten years. They made life a tricky proposition for some of my friends over that time and made Franklin and Park an ugly event that was part of going up Park Ave. to the loop. (Someone trying to shoot one of Carter's gang brothers or sisters killed Tyesha Edwards, a little sunshine of a child, just blocks from my house.)

It's great to see such a vicious, violent person, and one of the leadership circle of the Family Mob, have to spend many years in the state gray bar hotel. It also means that the Gang Strike Force has collected information on several other members of the leadership circle of that gang, so more charges, trials, and judgments will be coming down the pipeline.

This is a great day for people in south Mpls.

It is true that if you want to kill a snake cutting off the head is a good start.
