Barry Clegg gave a good, informative list of DeLaSalle alternatives.

But apparently DeLaSalle is not interested in seriously
considering these alternatives...

Are emotions are clouding the logic here...perhaps they don't want
anyone elses field, they want THEIR OWN stadium just outside
their front door...custom made to their specifications
covered with their logos? And come' on folks, they
have no intention of sharing THEIR OWN with the rabble.

Marie Hauser's response brings to mind some other
questions regarding the oft repeated... fantasy? About the
availability of the fields or the stadium.

Marie said:

"This Reciprocal Use Agreement would allow Minneapolis
children participating in Park Board programs
to join De La Salle students playing on Nicollet Island."

Does this mean that ONLY children participating = (enrolled?)
in a Park Board program would be allowed access...?

Not the public?

And just where would these kids come from...if they don't
live on the island? Would they have to "bus it" to De La Salle?
Is there an actual demand for kids in Park Board programs
to use the De La Salle facilty and are their funds to "bus" them there?

Would the reality be that the "Park Board" kids will continue
to use the parks they already use now for financial or other reasons
whether these are overcrowded or not?

And what happens if De La Salle is using the stadium or athletic fields
at the same time that the "Park Board" have their programs?

Would the really "join" the De La Salle students in the same space
at the same time...?

I have seen softball, basketball and soccer teams playing
at the same time in different areas in the park near Diamond
Lake...but is the De La Salle facility designed for that?

And what about the pesky public...were we or were we not
mentioned in the Reciprocal agreement so whoops
let's hope that nobody notices that the agreement does
not mention public access (or does it?) until after the stadium is built?

If as Marie says"

"De La Salle’s space is already a playing field, used for
decades by ball teams for practices and by gym classes."

Was this use exclusively by De La Salle? If so exactly HOW
much time are the fields unused now...and therefore theoretically
available to the "City Kids" and the pesky public?
