Global warming is a crisis too big, too serious and too irretractible to
ignore. We can't stop it in our lifetime but we must do everything we can to
slow its progress. Let's make Minneapolis great. Our federal and state
governments are doing nothing. Some cities are taking action and Minneapolis
can show
the world what can b done. We must maximize efficiency. Maximizing efficiency
will not only reduce greenhouse gasses, deadly mercury and other pollutants,
it will reduce our tax burden. We can use the best of the new technology and
the best of the old. We can install grid tied solar energy arrays on south
facing sound barriers of our freeways, over parking lots and parking ramps
using state and federal funds saving Minneapolis millions, slowing the flow of
billions of dollars out of our city and state and creating jobs. Don't believe
dunderheads that say its too expensive. It no longer is now with the new
generation of efficient photovoltaic modules and the intertying inverters. Its
a
great investment that will save millions and reduce greenhouse gasses. We
can encourage more L.E.D. lighting for our city streets. More vegetarian diets
in detention and correction facilities. Organic vegetable gardens in our
schools. Hydrogen fueling stations for the motor bikes that are already on the
market. City fleet cars and cabs can be flexible fuel, natural gas powered and
hybrid. (not overnight of course). Better accommodations for pedestrians and
bicyclists. Maybe an extra bridge or two for pedestrians, bikes and handicap
scooters over freeways. Stop expensive prosecutions and incarcerations of
small time pot users and dealers and spend the savings prosecuting more gunmen
and bike thieves. Promote stem cell research to create meaningful jobs. No
stadium tax without a vote. The list goes on. Do more with less until u can do
everything with nothing and hope that the warming of the planet is not too
much of a geometric progression. Visit my web site. My opponents spend 100s of
thousands of dollars on lawn signs and stickers. I'm spending about a
thousand detailing my platform.
