I would like to know how a fee for $250.00 can go up to $1,800.00? Who
is making these decisions...what organization in Phillips has that type of money ...
and we are talking about INNER CITY KIDS. I have heard that term tagged
onto so many projects that it has become inanely ineffective when used by
electors.

The Phillips neighborhood was passed over, Nokomis's playground equipment
is so rusted parents will not use it anymore, Liz needs a wading pool and
a football team has no place to play unless they pay...we are talking about
true inner city kids who are being passed over for what..?

Where is the money going that is so much more important than the basics?
Is this coming from the Board or from the Staff...who set that magic figure
of $1,800.00.

Sunday morning, I will be sitting on that strip of land having a cup of coffee It is Park property so it is no different than sitting over at Minnehaha Falls
or sitting by Lake Calhoun.

Dorie Gallagher/Nokomis

Sorry - the East Phillips Park and LaVerne Turner football saga about the football team and its problems with the Park Board have gone back at least 3 years that I know of. I have been in quite a few meetings and phone conversations trying to unravel this particular mess and find problems from many different angles

Annie Young
citywide Park Commissioner
who happens to live two blocks from East Phillips Park
and am very familiar with most of the issues in my neighborhood - especially about the parks and the lack of attention paid to them - even with a strong advocate fighting for them.
