I spoke with Dave Shegstad over the weekend about this disappointing
decision. He agrees that the denial was, in this case, unreasonable. Dave
said he loves a good party, and hopes this one goes on until the end
(including the address from President Fox) for the enjoyment of Latino
familes and friends and the rest of the neighborhood.

The request for this permit, which is outside the usual paramaters is
justified, understandable, and should be granted.

The Dave Shegstad for City Council Campaign Committee wishes Mercado
Central, and other participating organizers good luck in obtaining the
permit, and hopes everyone has a good time on the 15th, regardless of the
outcome.
