Dear Members of the Forum, Wow. Understanding the complexities of the Mayoral contest are seemingly insurmountable. Many on the list have served in various capacities in the community for many years. I was raised in the State of Minnesota and, having lived in many coutries and a number of other States, I keep entertaining the idea that I might have finally arrived at an understanding of the issues...only to awaken each day and discover new areas where there is a shortfall in my knowledge. I try to be self-critical and honest and work on the issues that I know. For many people, it is very difficult to understand all of the following; NRP and neighborhoods, Public Safety and the intricacies of the Criminal Justice system, mass-transit strategies and programs, Affordable Housing and Homelessness, the horribly complex legislative processes at all governmental levels. For many people, a vote for this or that candidate derives of some personal experience or interaction with that person. One thing is clear, many people on the list have had negative experiences with City Government...including me. When someone with power asks me what I think, takes the time to listen to my opinions because I work very hard to make things better...that is the measure I utilize when I cast my vote. In the coming election, folks are going to vote based on personal experience...my personal experience with many incumbents has not been all that satisfying. More than anything else, that will determine the outcome of the primary. For whatever that's worth...
