My belief is that if a DFL or Republican candidate did what DZ is alleged
to have done, there would be no investigation. The timing and handling
of this is not "by chance" at all.
Very astute observations...if I may add my thoughts:
Think about it fellow list members. What "entity" in the city
of Minneapolis is that powerful that they can "suggest" to the FBI when to
execute a search warrant and go public on the investigation of a public
servant or conversely, can "suggest" to the FBI that they NOT investigate
the criminal removal of $10 million from a public pension fund? Even the
most politically naïve amongst us should realize the execution of a search
warrant on Minneapolis Council Person Zimmerman, five days before a primary
election is politically motivated. Five days is perfect. Time enough
before the election that it will be fresh in people's minds but not the day
before which EVERYONE would agree to be politically motivated.
Dirty tricks in Minneapolis politics are a long and time honored
tradition. The older one is, and the more one has followed Minneapolis
politics, the more dirty tricks can be remembered. Most recently, the
attempt to determine the outcome of an election by a state legislator in
stealing the campaign literature of a fellow legislator's opponent, from the
doorsteps of voters. This felony was removed to another county, reduced to
a petty misdemeanor the legislator received a slap on the wrist and the
whole thing chalked up to her being just a "crazy old Aunt in the attic".
How convenient! How predictable! How "Minneapolis"!
This "entity", in my opinion, is the Minneapolis DFL party and
its North side "power brokers" who administer it. They are still reeling
from the last mayoral election in which the most corrupt city management
(DFL) in recent history was mostly removed from office. The upstart Rybak
and a number of Greens and Independents were elected, seriously diluting the
DFL stranglehold on Minneapolis. By association, the Greens are tainted and
this scandal could cost Farheen Hakeem, Doug Mann, and Natalie Johnson Lee
or even Annie Young their elections. If that were the case it would be a
shame but not to those who stood to gain by their loss. Mayor Rybak also
could suffer at the polls by politically ignorant voters who would associate
the criminal investigation of a sitting council person with the mayor's
office. That also would be a shame, but again, not by those who would gain
by this unfair association. What the voter must question is, who gains by
the "politically convenient" timing of the Zimmerman search warrant and why.
If I may offer a reason, again in my opinion, for the "regain
power at any cost" mind set of the local DFL as they realize their power
slipping away, they also realize it is going to be harder to control the"
investigations of convenience", the preventing of investigations and
stonewalling of lawsuits. A perfect example is a Minneapolis Police Relief
Association (MPRA) member lawsuit, initiated over FIVE YEARS ago by many of
its members against a powerful law firm and an even more politically
powerful former member of that firm. The members sought to have them
satisfactorily explain their actions, when employed by MPRA, when $10
million was looted from the fund. Not too much to ask when they had been
paid millions by the fund/taxpayer over the years. They, of course,
refused. A lawsuit ensued and the upshot is, the corrupt MPRA board of
directors voted to pay and continues to pay for their defense. Ultimately
YOUR money Minneapolis! Only a very powerful entity could cause a lawsuit
to languish for over five years, continue to languish and pay plaintiffs
legal expenses by the Minneapolis taxpayer.
In six months of posting to the Forum, with about six
submittals, I have yet to have ONE serious politician challenge the facts as
I presented them. Only one politician even replied and she only to
personally attack me. But again, it was only the "crazy old Aunt in the
attic". Forgivable and understandable in her case.
