Brandon Lacy Campos explained the Green Party principles to us: The Green Party and those that believe in its agenda believe in gender equality (backed by legislation to eliminate gender disparities), the annihilation of racism, environmental sanity, freedom for queer individuals to fully engage and enjoy all the rights and responsibilities enjoyed by straight Americans, a reformed electoral system that allows for Instant Runoff Voting, community based restorative justice, fully funded public education, and a whole host of other issues that represent the broad diversity of the Green Party. The Green Party holds as a core value the idea of local, grassroots leadership to which public officials hold themselves accountable.
In the upcoming November election, I hope the Green Party activists hold CP Natalie Johnson Lee to the party principles about 'freedom for queer individuals to fully engage and enjoy all rights and responsibilities enjoyed by straight Americans'. She has made statements and aligned herself with people that do not reflect a queer-friendly view of the world. Mark Hanson Prospect Park REMINDERS: 1. Be civil!
