I hate to respond to post from Anne McCandless, because her insight is always
great, however, I think my point has been missed.

ANNE SAID:
The saddest part of this race is that the only things they seem to argue
about is who is more African American and who loves black people more.

MICHELLE HILL RESPONDS:
Well there is some truth to that, the issue is raised for many reason and
those reasons started with quotes from CP Samuels.

ANNE SAID:
This is a ward that is desperate for attention when it comes to development
that will bring money into it, but nobody seems to give a darn.

MICHELLE HILL RESPONDS:
That is why I keep screaming about the EMPOWERMENT ZONE monies, that could
have created NEW businesses, which creates NEW JOBS. When you motivate people
of
color to come out with proposals for new businesses only to turn them away,
what should they do next. Especially when you give away $96,000.00 that they
could have been used to create jobs and stabilize the family unit. My neighbor
seemed deflated after all of the work she put into the proposal submitted for
Empowerment Zone Funding. Does society wish to simply continue to just call
them lazy?

ANNE SAID:
This is a ward made up of many different races, not just African Americans,
and nobody seems to care.

MICHELLE HILL RESPONDS:
I'm really sorry if you believe that. Now magnify how you feel about being
excluded by 10 and you will see low income, single parents feel about the
things
that have been alluded to, in this race, about them.

Wards in this city are made up of diverse people. Some economically fortunate
and some not. Some dark skinned and some light skinned. Some physically or
mentally challenged and some not. I'll say it again and again, if you do not
put
the tools there to help the "lower class" or "impoverished" move into middle
class status, people will continue to use them for target practice.

As to Lt. Arradondo's removal from the mediation process, if the department
removed him for grooming purposes, someone should have told him, since he found
out about the removal when passing another Lieutenant in the hall. I do agree
that they should rotate other personnel through the mediation process but not
discussing it with the whole group is the problem as I understand it.

As to the Mayor and his involvement in Mediation, if he does not respect a
federally mandated process, that is in place to address community/police
issues,
which primarily involve people of color, then how can he expect one to trust
him enough to cast a vote for him on November 8th. I do have a vote in that
race, but he still has time to sway my vote.

I have been told, in a private email, to stop posting on this forum because,
"those white folks don't get it." Well, as you can see, I'm still posting
because I disagree with that view. I do not pretend to understand all people,
but
all people will not understand me and that is OK. My mother always said,
"Ignorance comes from a persons unwillingness to tell, and another persons
unwillingness to ask."
