There could be endless debate about how to classify local publications, who are
they benifiting etc. But that is distracting from what the real issue of this
debate is. The real issue is that CM Samuels questioned Natalie Johnson Lee on
her position on a development (Block E) that she campaigned against in her
first campaign. She is now taking credit for the development on her current
lit piece. He asked her when did she change her mind? Was it when they ( major
tenants of Block E) began to advertise in her husband's porn magazine? The
debate moderator said he didn't think that the trendsetter's publisher ( Travis
Lee) called it pornography and Don Samuels said something to the effect of "he
may not, but I do". The public does not have to agree with Don, nor is he
campaigning to get anyone else to agree, he stated what his opinion of the
magazine was, and quesitoned why Natalie changed her mind on a major campaign
issue from her first race.
Don Samuels also spoke about how Natalie is claiming to have taken such a high
road and stuck to the issues. Don Samuels pointed out that they (her campaign)
have been leading month's worthy of a nasty campaign, not about the issues, but
against him personally, through such outlets as the trendsetter ( fake-named
authors writing columns full of mistruths as well as political charictures with
race-baiting captions), radio shows, and cable access shows that show burning
crosses & KKK rallies with a scroll at the bottom that says if you like this,
vote for Uncle Don. And Green Party supporters are defending it???
While Don and his wife are working tirelessly, sacrificing their personal time
& family time by starting and helping to run a foundation that is bringing
resources in to North Minneapolis to confront violence, provide recreational &
artisitc outlets for youth & recruiting gang members off the streets & into
jobs, Natalie and her husband are soliciting ads from strip clubs to fund a
(debatably pornographic) magazine so they can write columns behind psuedo-names
and draw race-baiting cartoons to print on the back.
Where is the comparrison? What has Natalie done?
