Oddly enough, sometimes the local channel 9 news has been one of the most respectful newscasts of progressive causes and issues. Robin Robinson(sp?) personally has acted as MC for many community events of progressive nature.
While the FOX news channel can hardly be called news much of the time due to it's incredible slant, the local fox affiliate appears to often take a different tack. Despite my personal agreeement with Dr. Helen Caldicott's characterization of her fellow Australian and media mogul Rupert Murdoch "a physical manifestation of evil" and "threat to the human race", one can hardly fault the local affiliate which seems to often venture outside the mold of much of Rupert's empire. It will be interesting to see what happens with their new 5 pm newscast as their 9 pm newscast has often been comparable or better than other local newscasts in covering the community with equanimity.
