One of the interesting and little known things about
Microsoft Word is that it keeps an electronic record
of the edits done to a document...electronic
fingerprints if you will. In the case of the PIP's
questionnaire, the trail was left intact for anyone to
look at.

Starting on September 15, the document went through
several revisions. It is true that Julie Idelkope did
much of the work on it, paid or otherwise, along with
someone named Tom who shows up on the 9.15 draft. More
edits on 9.24 and 9.27 and final edits on 10.16,
immediately prior to its distribution.

What is also true is that Kari shows up on the main
page edit trail on 9.27, more than two full weeks
before the document was finished and distributed. So
she obviously was reviewing Idelkope's work and , as
Ms. Carlson rightly pointed out in a previous post,
Kari is definitely a political leader in her own
right.

My point was, and still is, that the PIP's are
directly tied to Bob Fine, Walt Dziedzic and the rest
of the current failed leadership. They are not now and
never were impartial or non-partisan and the excercise
of creating this questionnaire was intended to add a
veneer of objectivity to their endorsements.

But since they went to all the trouble, hopefully they
will share the responses they got with the list along
with their "endorsements" which should have been out
within hours of their Tuesday deadline.

There are very serious issues and problems facing the
park board, some natural, quite a few of them
self-made. It's time to knock off the political
gamesmanship, stop the spin cycle and move on to the
business of making this board accountable, transparent
and welcoming of citizen involvement. It is essential
that we restore the public trust and find solutions to
the current fiscal problems before another Dutch
Elm-style crisis hits.
