I recently got a message from "People for Independent
Parks" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> telling me that
"We have endorsed Dan Froehlich and Mary Merrill
Anderson for At-Large Park Commissioner" and that "our
next e-mail will announce our endorsements for the
park districts." It is signed by Barb Johnson and has
an independent expenditure disclaimer.
Setting aside recent discussions about this group,
I've been wondering how this group got my email
address. I certainly hope they aren't mining emails
off this listserve (that would be unethical). Even
worse, I hope the City DFL wouldn't sell lists to
non-candidate, political committees (that would be
unethical and probably illegal).
I've asked the group to clarify where they got my
email address from and am awaiting a response. Has
anyone else received such an email? It promises to
have an upcoming announcement of district-based Park
Board candidates.
On another note, since they are making independent
expenditures, this group is barred by law to
coordinate any campaign activities with candidates or
their agents. If it is true that a candidate's
relative is involved with this independent
expenditure, that would raise some serious questions.
Does anyone have more information than I?
