In response to Derek Burrows Reise's misguided and
misdirected assertion "It's no secret that
Zimmerman(n) isn't the most effective council member,"
judge for yourselves. I offer the following list of
items -- albeit incomplete -- that Council Member Dean
Zimmermann has either taken the lead on or played a
significant role in accomplishing during the past
3-1/2 years.

Derek Burrows Reise responds:

I will take a step back and admit that I probably
should have expressed myself differently regarding CM
Zimmerman's effectiveness. I don't follow city
politics closely enough to be able to say with
confidence which members are most or least effective.

I was trying to get at Zimmerman's general reputation
as an ineffective councilmember, but I'll leave it to
others to make the assessment if that is deserved or
not. My only real example of Zimmerman's
ineffectiveness is his waffling on the smoke ban (even
though he was the original sponsor), leaving it for
Gary Schiff to pick up and take the lead to what was
ultimately passed.

I don't follow Ward 6 politics closely, but I must
admit I'd probably vote for Mr. Zimmerman if I lived
there. Not because he attends peace rallies, but
because he's right on most city issues (except PRT).
Dean's a good guy and I certainly hope the FBI
allegations prove to be false.
