To which I respond: "And of course, if the entire country ever has the diseases of a bird (asian avian flu), we will all either need some sort of nationalized health care or it won't make any difference since many of us will be dead." To make this a Minneapolis issue, today marked the opening of Runway 17-35, another expansion of Northwest's airport (expansion which was funded in conflict with the home insulation/noise abatement agreement of a decade ago). I am glad to see the brakes have been put on the further runaway (as opposed to runway) expansion of the airport by the MAC due to Northwest's current financial and labor problems. If the avian flu pandemic does become a reality, Northwest will not need their big jets either and a lot more business will be filing bankruptcy like Mesabi. Thinking about this mess makes me feel ill- is there a doctor in the house?
