John, slinging mud at a highballing train tends to result in
mud all over the mudslinger... The McLaughlin Express is headed for
city hall and there's no way you can derail it. So while the Mayoral
Prius is stuck waiting at the railroad crossing (don't try to sneak
around the gates, and please have R.T. set the parking brake- it's
that lever between the seats), lets look at the facts: On R.T.'s
watch we have less cops on the street than we started with. And while
R.T. can play shell games by shuffling cops from the southside to the
northside and now over to Como, we haven't lost count- we're still
short hundreds of cops. And John, as long as your throwing numbers
around, how many firefighters have we lost on R.T.'s watch? Ok, the
trains by now- and while R.T.'s hopefully releasing the parking brake
you might want to check the stick on the left side of the steering
column- It's been signalling a right turn for some time now.
All Aboard the McLauglin Express... Serving the northside,
and the southside, and northeast, and downtown...
The posting by Commissioner McLaughlin regarding the MPR debate is a nice
attempt at spin. Claiming victory doesn't make it true. McLaughlin's post
claims the Commissioner clearly laid out his vision. What vision
is that? Is it
the vision that puts 150 cops on the street in three years? Wait, it's not
150 cops but 250 in five years. No wait again, it's not really 50 cops per
year but a net 25 because he forgot to account for annual
attrition. And does
anyone really know his "vision" for paying for these additional cops?? He's
had almost as many "visions" for public safety as he's had campaign
managers.
