Why were there police and Fire trucks at Matthews Park?
To lead the Halloween Parade.

Angels, Skeletons, John Lennon, a bag of jelly beans, the little match girl,
Fred Flintstone, a girl that wandered in from the prairie, locomotives and
many other well disguised parents and kids marched in their sartorial splendor
through the Seward neighborhood to end up back at the park for treats served
by a witch with a Park Board ID and games run by wonderwoman.

We even had a parade float of a UFO with aliens capturing an innocent
looking child (who was really the space alien who was both the alien and the
child
and then there was the mad scientist who was really masterminding the whole
thing including some kind of mind control to get some adults to dress up like
aliens and drag a UFO through residential streets)

It was a great parade with 250-300 participants gathered at this great Park
sponsored event- a wonderful community gathering of neighbors meeting
neighbors.

There were less trick or treaters at my house than last year probably about
20 in total and mostly young kids. I didn't see many teens- maybe they were
all at Al Bangora's Haunted House at Powderhorn Park.

Thanks,
Scott Vreeland Seward
