One hybrid car driver driving 10 miles per hour slower than
the speed limit trying in vain to equal the mileage of a biodiesel
car driven 10 mph over the limit can hold up traffic- imagine what
congestion a whole parade of these slowpokes can create! It's a made
for R.T. PR event restricted to the elite owners of these expensive
and exclusive hybrids- and at the expense of us taxpayers R.T. had
the city get him a Prius so he can be a member of this exclusive cult
of pseudo environmental snobbery too!
Now I and my biodiesel buddies would be happy to join in this
little event, though at a more vigorous pace. We'd be more than happy
to demonstrate the ability of a quarter century old VW running on
biodiesel to match the mileage the hybrids get on that fuel we have
to literally kill for while consuming a fuel grown right here in
Minnesota. But we weren't invited... the Hybrid clique know better
than to let themselves be upstaged by a mass of unwashed gearheads in
old VWs.
Fortunately the hybrid owners still have to share the streets
with us, although R.T. does command the remains of a police
department and could always have a bunch of gas guzzling MPD Crown
Vics create a buffer lest he be passed by an old VW running on soy
beans at every stoplight.
So I think I'll tag along- maybe when they stop for lunch I can even
load up on some free fuel. I'll even help out by bringing along some
biodegradable wheel chocks (split firewood) and keep the Mayoral
Prius properly chocked lest it roll away again.

mayor's going to catch up),

Cool Cities Hybrid Car Tour and Scavenger Hunt
Seeking solutions to global warming
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1st kickoff press conference at 10:30am
The Cool Cities hybrid car tour is about praising the work of mayors that
have signed onto Climate Protection Agreement, and highlighting the work
of "Cool Cities" and citizens that are working toward a sustainable energy
future through local efforts to curb global warming.
Participants at each stop in the Twin Cities Hybrid Car Tour and Scavenger
Hunt will learn an example of how the Twin Cities and citizens are
creating local strategies to curb global warming, and collect ideas and
solutions for how we can move faster and farther toward sustainability.
Stops as part of the Scavenger Hunt will point out that we don't have to
do much searching- solutions are right before us, we simply have to
collect and implement them!
This day is meant to point out that by taking action with Cleaner Cars,
