Please take a moment to read about the Ward 3 race:

Ward 3: Green is good — even if you’re a DFLer

Can the Greens survive the DFL's attention?

--------------------------------------------------------
Clarification: DT Journal's Jeremy Stratton does good, thorough work, but
now I know why he was fishing for criticisms from both candidates - so he
could print them (I guess that makes interesting reading). I would like to
note here that some of what was said was taken out of context, including the
part about Hofstede stance that she is "greener than the Green Party."

What was missed is that the Green Party is not JUST about environmental
issues (and I do believe I have more depth here), but also about social and
economic justice, nonviolence, and grassroots democracy (to name a few) -
shared values of the Green Party translated into public policy. All of the
positions I've advocated for fall under these values - and I'm not hearing
that from Hofstede. If she's truly "greener than the Green Party", then one
would think that would come across. It doesn't. If this was true many
Greens would welcome that in this election, regardless of endorsements (I've
worked on numerous DFL campaigns of those who were were all about these
values - and I would have worked on a campaign in Ward 3 had there been a
green-leaning DFLer running.) That's what I meant by "it's pretty hard to be
greener than the Green Party." Green standards are just higher.

I've vowed to run a positive, principled campaign. I've said nothing
negative in terms of character (but a lot of criticism is warranted for
policy - or lack thereof), other than those pesky, oversized DFL-endorsed
glossy fliers are not made of 100% post consumer - and that's a conscience
choice. It's unfortunate when establishment candidates view themselves above
an entire political party and consequently debase authentic progressive
candidates. It's not about who's more/better/different. It's about putting
forth policies that will make concrete improvements in people's lives.
